This year we celebrate Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday) on Tuesday February 25TH. This is the last day of the Carnival of Carnaval Season before the start of Lent. However, this type of celebration has been taking place since Ancient Roman Times and when Christianity took hold, the celebration was fused into the new religion.

There is no place better to celebrate Mardi Gras than the “Big Easy”. New Orleans celebrates in style with costume balls, masks, parades, parties, colorful beads, and of course luscious food. The symbolic colors of Mardi Gras are: purple (for justice), green (for faith), and gold (for power). By city ordinance masks are prohibited to be worn at any other time, except for Mardi Gras, and all masks must be removed by 6:00pm.
