As we approach Christmas celebrations during this unusual year, one thing that we can still treasure are Christmas traditions. Many of us have special memories of traditions that were created from a young age, and then changed as we aged and our families expanded. And now, our traditions are evolving due to the special precautions we are taking during this pandemic.
Decorations are a tradition that can be maintained no matter what is going on in the world. This year, when we put up decorations…they can still provide us with joy and reassurance…it is like rediscovering an old friend.
Sharing the holidays with Family and Friends is always a major ingredient of our Christmas traditions. This year we may have less people physically around the holiday table but we can still find ways to share our special memories with our family circle…even via a virtual celebration. It is so satisfying to enjoy the warmth and delight of a Christmas celebration.
Gifts and Presents…definitely a favorite tradition! There is pleasure in finding the perfect and inspired gift for someone. Giving is a central part of our holiday tradition. And this year the tradition of giving is so important for the many people impacted by COVID-19. As you know, Spice For Life is a social enterprise and our gift is to give all of our profits to help people impacted by human trafficking.
Food is always a major focus of our holiday traditions. There is nothing more enjoyable than sipping wine, eating great food and hearing the laughter and conversation around the Holiday table. Spice For Life has enticing ideas for the feast at the table on Christmas Day, as well as Christmas Eve. An Italian tradition that we adopted a few years ago is to create a “Feast of the Seven Fishes” on Christmas Eve. A favorite seafood recipe is Seafood Posole. We will be sharing via social media several Christmas Holiday recipes with you during the week that will help you plan a Holiday menu. Also check out spice-forlife.com for a variety of recipe options.
At Spice For Life, we hope you enjoy all of your Holiday traditions. Eat, Drink & Be Merry!
